Our sustainability approach
Clearly, construction costs resources: materials, machines, energy and human labour. We live in a time in which the importance of environmental protection, resource conservation and the focus on the well-being of people is constantly growing. That is why we at SWIETELSKY concentrate on innovative approaches and solutions to shape the construction industry of the future. For us, sustainability is not a trend, but a commitment that we take seriously. We believe that every construction project offers an opportunity to bring about positive change.
Our commitment to sustainability is deeply rooted in the SWIETELSKY DNA. We understand that building is not just about erecting structures, but also about taking responsibility for the environment and society. That is why we attach great importance to planning our projects in a holistically sustainable way - in terms of environment, people and economy.
Sustainability strategy
Our sustainability strategy forms the basis of our activities in the three core areas of environment, social affairs and governance. It defines our goals and the measures we take to achieve these goals. Based on the emissions recorded in the 2020/21 financial year, a concept was developed to ensure a sustainable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by the 2030/31 financial year. The overarching goals of the sustainability strategy are
- Optimisation of resource consumption
- Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
- Advancing of mobility transformation
- Improving resource efficiency
- Promoting the circular economy
- Increasing the Group's social capital
The scope of our sustainability strategy goes beyond the requirements of the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). As a pioneering document, the sustainability strategy sets ambitious targets for the Group's development up to 2030/31 and explains the necessary measures.
Sustainability report
In our sustainability report, we provide detailed insights into concrete implementations, milestones and projects. As part of the solution to the challenges of climate change, we are continuously working on reducing our ecological footprint and shaping the construction industry with our innovations along our entire value chain.
In the 2023/24 financial year, SWIETELSKY initiated the transformation from voluntary to mandatory sustainability reporting. From the 2025/26 financial year, the key figures from the areas of environment, social affairs and corporate governance will be integrated into the audited section of the annual report.
We invite you to find out more about our commitment to sustainability and become part of our mission. Let's build together - responsibly, innovatively and ever more sustainably.
“We are determined to push forward all major sustainability issues within the group and to continuously improve our sustainability reporting in terms of transparency and effectiveness.”
